TTimageTony Taylor has been playing the 5 string banjo for over 40 years and has been teaching it for 35.

In His Banjo Lessons he teaches Scruggs and Melodic styles usually associated with Bluegrass music as well as the Seeger basic strum known as ‘upicking’.

Over the years Tony’s played professionally with several top musicians such as Charlie Whitney, Del Robinson Band, The Legendary Billy and the Slaptones, Rick Grech and Claire Hamill,  The Goonhillys, Sue White and Los Racketeeros. He occasionally plays at sessions around Cornwall especially The Ship at Pentewan.

In his time he has taught hundreds of students… young and old… mainly beginners but not always. He even taught John Dowling for a couple of years. John is the musical prodigy from Cornwall who won the National Bluegrass Banjo Championship at Winfield, Kansas, USA at the age of 21. A remarkable achievement considering the thousands of banjo players in the US.
